Tom Campbell
& Scott Litzenberg

These two gentlemen, along with 2004 Hall of Fame member Mike Dennis, can largely be credited with navigating the Crossmen through a time of great uncertainty, yet a time of great rebirth.  Without their dedication and tireless hard work, the Crossmen simply would not have survived the latter half of the 1980's. The corps was struggling competitively, trying to regain their DCI Finalist status, but that was only part of what motivated Scott and Tom to work as hard as they could for the corps. They also strove to make sure the members enjoyed their drum corps experience as much as the members of finalist corps of Crossmen past.

As a long time member of the Crossmen Board of Directors, and someone who could be counted on to do whatever he had to do to get the corps what it needed, Tom Campbell would be there every waking moment giving all he had to keep the corps operating as smoothly as possible. He was also instrumental in the corps' bingo effort, which brought much needed revenue during some very difficult years.

As director of the corps from 1987-1989, Scott Litzenberg would do everything from write the music, teach the music, coordinate daily schedules for the entire corps, and drive the bus down the road, often times all in the same day! His commitment to the corps that he never marched in was unwavering.

"Fun, productive, inspiring, difficult, and completely amazing." This is how Mike Dennis describes those “very special” moments of his time spent working along side Tom and Scott. They instilled a sense of pride in the members to want to stick around and build the corps back from scratch into the top twelve, where they eventually returned in 1989 and remained for many years.  Indeed, the success of the Crossmen in the 1990's would not have been possible had these two men not worked so hard and given so much of themselves in helping get the corps back on track.

Tom stated that, “My years with the Crossmen have left me with many fond memories.  I laughed and cried with a whole lot of great people.  I have always hoped that I might have had some small positive influence on those that marched.”  We believe that some fifteen years later, it's safe to say that you have.
