A Time of Confidences

When it comes to the 1992 Crossmen, I find myself lacking the right words to encapsulate exactly what that summer meant for me, and what it would come to mean for the Crossmen organization. In some ways, words can never truly do that summer and that corps justice. It was the perfect storm, the perfect marriage of people and talents, the right show at the right time. It really was magic in a bottle in so many ways. Still, it's been twenty years now. I don't know how that can be possible, because in my mind, it feels like only a few months ago we were standing on the field together at Camp Randall for the last time, basking in the afterglow of an evening at DCI Finals that we will never forget.

A Fitting Tribute

On Thursday, January 20, 2010, Darrell J. "Bubba" Goslin was laid to rest after a very moving ceremony celebrating the life and impact of a devoted husband, father, educator, and friend. Those who knew and loved Bubba came from far and wide to remember him and honor him. Several of his colleagues from the drum corps, marching band, and judging communities, including Crossmen alums Mark Thurston, Rich Hammond, Christ Feist, Jim Dwyer, Doug Raines, Dan O'Neill, Bryan Tuk, and Rob Meisner, helped pay their respects by assembling a drumline to accompany Bubba's casket as it entered into the church for the servives. As a testament to those who loved him, this gesture was an extremely fitting tribute to a wonderful man who will be terribly missed by all who knew him.
