Crossmen Odds & Ends - Autumn 2010

It's been a busy off-season for the Crossmen! After announcing the return of former staff members Chuck Naffier as new brass arranger and Jason Buckingham to head up the brass program, the corps has made a series of changes on the staff and design team in hopes to re-energize the corps on the field and eventually return them to finalist status. Among the announcements made were: Ed Devlin as Visual Coordinator and Drillwriter, Mykail Costner as Color Guard Caption Head, Lee Beddis and Andrew Markworth as Percussion Arrangers, the beginnings of the Brass Staff being put together, and the announcement of the Pecussion Caption leadership and Visual Caption leadership.

These announcements were not without a certain bit of drama, however. When the percussion leadership team was announced, it was noticed that there was no cymbal tech included on the list of staff. For the next twenty-four hours, emails and facebook comments and some heated passion from all over the Crossmen alumni universe flooded the Crossmen home office in San Antonio, inquiring about whether or not the corps would be fielding a cymbal line in 2011. Indeed, the Crossmen are one of the few corps to still have a cymbal line, and have never known a competitive season without one since our founding in 1975. After much serious deliberation, and in the face of overwhelming support of Crossmen alumni from all over the country, the corps reversed its decision and have announced they will be fielding a cymbal line in 2011, as well announcing their new cymbal tech. If you know of anyone who is interested in auditioning for the Crossmen cymbal line, please send them information about the Crossmen.
