Robert "Bob" Donohue

2012

Induction:

obert “Bob” Donohue’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes a life of service, generosity, and quiet dedication to helping others — including his meaningful contributions to the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps.

Bob was one of those invaluable people every drum corps depends on: the volunteer willing to do whatever needed to be done. His service to the Crossmen included time as a driver, carpenter, painter, and kitchen aide, roles that may happen away from the spotlight but are absolutely essential to keeping a corps moving, fed, cared for, and ready to perform.

For the members, staff, and volunteers who experienced life on the road, people like Bob made the season possible. Every mile driven, every repair completed, every meal helped prepared, and every task handled behind the scenes contributed directly to the member experience. His work reflected the best of the Crossmen volunteer spirit: dependable, selfless, humble, and focused entirely on serving the corps.

Bob’s commitment to the Crossmen was part of a much larger life of service. A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific and received multiple service honors. He was also deeply involved in his church for decades, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Good Works Inc., served as a longtime Scoutmaster, and was a lifetime member of the West End Fire Company #3.

That broader record of service helps explain the kind of person Bob was to the Crossmen family. He gave his time, his skills, and his heart wherever they were needed. He did not seek recognition; he simply helped. In doing so, he became part of the foundation that allowed young performers to have a meaningful and memorable drum corps experience.

Bob’s 2012 induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame honors not only the specific jobs he performed, but the spirit in which he served. His legacy reminds us that the Crossmen are built not only by those who perform on the field, but also by those who drive through the night, fix what is broken, help feed the corps, and care for the members as family.

For his selfless service as a volunteer, his commitment to the members, his many contributions behind the scenes, and his lasting place in the Crossmen family, we proudly honor Robert “Bob” Donohue as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame.
