David Borland

David Borland’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes his extraordinary leadership, professionalism, and commitment to the future of the Crossmen organization.

David joined the Crossmen Board of Directors in 2019, bringing with him an impressive background in technology leadership, business management, music education advocacy, and nonprofit service. A lifelong musician, David has remained active as a trombone performer in Austin-area concert and jazz bands, while also supporting music education in Texas through involvement with TMEA and his local school community.

Following the COVID-19 shutdown, David stepped into one of the most challenging leadership periods in the history of the corps. As Board Chair, and later as volunteer Executive Director, he helped guide the Crossmen through a time of uncertainty for both the organization and the drum corps activity as a whole. His steady leadership, strategic thinking, and willingness to face difficult issues directly helped the corps survive, stabilize, and move forward.

David’s approach has always centered on the members. Every decision has been guided by the goal of creating life-changing experiences rooted in the Crossmen values of Mind, Body, Spirit, and Discipline, as well as excellence, perseverance, teamwork, and character. He has also shown deep respect for the corps’ traditions, actively seeking input from alumni and helping strengthen alumni representation on the Board.

Those who have served alongside David describe him as humble, tireless, thoughtful, and deeply committed. His leadership has helped modernize the organization, strengthen its financial foundation, and preserve the legacy that connects generations of Crossmen.

For his service as Board Chair, volunteer Executive Director, strategic leader, advocate for music education, and steward of the Crossmen mission and traditions, we proudly honor David Borland as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
