Denise Ebersole
2020
Induction:
Denise Ebersole began her Crossmen volunteer story in 2010 when her son Kevin joined the Corps. In addition to working on the food truck, Denise filled in wherever she was needed. Now you would think that story would have ended when her second son Conner aged out in 2016. But it did not. Denise returned to take on the difficult role of Food Manager for the winter camps, making the 4 to 5 hour drive from her home in Dallas to San Antonio for every camp including spring training. When Denise is not working the food truck, she can be found sewing uniforms, selling merchandise, shuttling members and staff to and from the airport, selling raffle tickets at events, and lending a hand at the annual golf tournament in Dallas or the Showcase in the Square on Father’s Day.
Although Denise is working tirelessly while with the Corps, she always finds the time to spread the love that is the essence of the Crossmen family. New parents find her welcoming council both informative and reassuring. If they can’t speak to her in person, they know that they can go to the parent Facebook page where Denise is happy to answer all their questions. Another thing Denise is happy to do is house, feed, and transport out-of-state and international members to and from her home before and after camps and during Spring training. Denise always treats anyone involved with the Crossmen as a member of the Ebersole family. According to her son Conner, “The Crossmen is a major part of her life and brings genuine joy to her heart.”
From the very beginning of Denise’s volunteer story in 2010, in addition to everything else she was doing, Denise has always been among the first ones to help unload and one of the last ones left after packing up. She’s the last one asleep at night and the first one up in the morning, giving the staff and the admin the freedom to do their jobs. This commitment did not go unnoticed. In 2013, the administration presented Denise with the prestigious Crossmen Volunteer of the Year Award. Now, in 2020, with her induction into the Hall of Fame, we recognise Denise Ebersole as the volunteer of the decade!
Ladies and gentlemen, the Crossmen, the Crossmen Alumni Association, and the Crossmen Hall of Fame Committee are proud to induct into the Crossmen Hall of Fame Class of 2020… Denise Ebersole.
