Donna Reedy
2015
Induction:
Donna Crowell Reedy’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes a lifetime of dedication to the corps as a charter member, performer, volunteer, food truck manager, alumni leader, Crossmen parent, and devoted ambassador for the spirit of Bones.
Donna’s Crossmen journey began at the very beginning. As a charter member of the 1975 horn line, she helped bring the newly formed corps to life and was part of the first generation of members to establish the Crossmen identity. She continued as a horn line member through the 1978 season, contributing to the early foundation of the corps during some of its most important formative years.
After taking a year away, Donna returned to the corps in 1980 as a member of the color guard. She marched two seasons in the guard, aging out in 1981. That decision to complete her marching career in the color guard would become an important part of her family’s Crossmen story for years to come.
Before the 1982 season, Donna married her Crossmen sweetheart, Rick Reedy, himself a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame. Together, they built a family deeply connected to the corps. Their daughters would each carry on the Crossmen tradition as members of the color guard: Allie marched from 2003 to 2004, Andrea from 2005 to 2007, and Danielle from 2005 to 2010, with each aging out as a member of the corps.
Donna’s most significant service to the organization began when her oldest daughter joined the Crossmen in 2003. She started volunteering on the food truck and quickly became an essential part of life on tour. From 2006 through 2008, Donna served as food truck manager, taking on one of the most demanding and important volunteer roles in drum corps. She continued volunteering on the truck until her youngest daughter aged out in 2010.
The work of feeding a drum corps is constant, exhausting, and essential. Donna approached that responsibility with care, organization, and love. Her efforts helped ensure that members were nourished, cared for, and supported through the long days and nights of tour. For her hard work and commitment, Donna received the Director’s Distinguished Service Award in 2007 and the Spirit of the Crossmen Award in 2008.
As the Crossmen transitioned to San Antonio, Donna played an important role in helping the new management team adjust to the realities of national tour. For returning members, she was a familiar and reassuring presence — a reminder that even as the corps entered a new chapter, it was still home, and it was still the same Crossmen.
Donna’s service has also extended deeply into the alumni community. She was part of the team that helped reestablish the Crossmen Alumni Association and has continued to support efforts that connect generations of alumni to one another and to the corps. Her leadership and dedication helped strengthen the sense of family that has always been central to the Crossmen experience.
One of Donna’s most meaningful recent contributions was her leadership in helping bring the 40th Anniversary Celebration to life. The event was so successful that it helped establish a new tradition: holding the corps banquet in Pennsylvania each Sunday after DCI East. In doing so, Donna helped create another lasting connection between the current corps, alumni, families, and the Pennsylvania roots of the organization.
Few people have given as much time, effort, and love to the Crossmen as Donna Crowell Reedy. She has been a charter member, a horn line member, a color guard member, a Crossmen wife and mother, a tour volunteer, a food truck manager, an alumni leader, and one of the corps’ most passionate supporters. Her story spans generations and reflects the very best of what it means to be part of the Crossmen family.
For her service from the corps’ beginning, her years as a marching member, her devotion as a volunteer and food truck manager, her leadership in the alumni association, and her lifelong commitment to keeping the Crossmen spirit strong, we proudly honor Donna Crowell Reedy as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame Class of 2015.
