Jean Lyman

Jean Lyman’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes her extraordinary dedication to the corps as a parent volunteer, fundraiser, Board member, Board Secretary, event organizer, donor, mentor, and steadfast supporter of the Crossmen family.

Jean was introduced to the Crossmen as a parent volunteer when her son, Chris, marched with the corps from 2009 through 2012. During those years, Jean and her husband, Mike, spent weeks on tour volunteering with the food truck, assisting members, supporting new parent volunteers, and helping wherever they were needed. What began as a parent’s support for her child quickly became a lasting commitment to the entire Crossmen organization.

Even after Chris aged out, Jean continued to show up. She remained active at camps, spring training, and on tour, welcoming new families and helping them understand what it means to be part of the Crossmen family. Her warmth, reliability, and willingness to serve helped create a sense of belonging for parents, volunteers, members, and staff alike.

Jean’s impact has been especially significant in fundraising and organizational support. She helped organize and chair major events including the annual Crossmen Golf Tournament and Showcase in the Square, coordinating sponsors, recruiting participants, obtaining donations, and helping raise critical funds for the corps. These events brought together supporters from both inside and outside the drum corps community and helped strengthen the financial foundation of the organization.

Jean has also played a major role in preserving traditions and building community. She helped launch the Crossmen parent page, supported the “151” volunteer identity, and helped pass down traditions such as age-out corsages. Through these efforts, she strengthened the connection between families, volunteers, members, and the corps.

As Secretary of the Crossmen Board of Directors, Jean has continued to serve with professionalism, organization, and purpose. Her business, technology, and management background have made her an invaluable resource in board operations, fundraising, grant research, donor communication, member education, policy development, and organizational planning. She has also helped support initiatives such as the Topgolf fundraiser, bingo operations, corporate giving, and the Amazon Wish List program, ensuring that food truck, medical, office, guard, and tour supplies are available when the corps needs them.

Jean’s care for the corps extends far beyond administrative work. She has donated gifts and decorations for Christmas in July, helped provide member treats and morale-building moments, delivered supplies to the corps, written thank-you notes, supported donor outreach, and provided meals and snacks for staff, drivers, and volunteers. Her “tour mom” presence has become something people look forward to whenever she visits.

Throughout the Crossmen’s Texas era, Jean has been one of the people who continued to show up through both strong years and difficult ones. Her service has been steady, humble, generous, and deeply rooted in love for the corps. She has helped sustain the organization not only through the work she does, but through the example she sets for others.

For her years as a parent volunteer, her leadership in fundraising and alumni engagement, her service as Board Secretary, her support of members, staff, volunteers, and families, her preservation of traditions, and her unwavering commitment to the future of the Crossmen, we proudly honor Jean Lyman as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
