Michelle Williams
2014
Induction:
Michele Williams’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes a lifetime of dedication to the corps as a marching member, volunteer, alumni leader, historian, organizer, designer, and devoted caretaker of the Crossmen legacy.
Michele’s drum corps journey began at just seven years old as a member of the Stingers and later the 507 Hornets Junior Drum and Bugle Corps. When the Crossmen were formed in 1974, Michele became one of the young members who helped bring the new organization to life. At only 12 years old, she joined the Crossmen horn line and went on to march six seasons with the corps from 1974 through 1980, working her way up to first soprano.
As a young performer, Michele brought the same intensity, commitment, and pride that defined the early years of the Crossmen. She was part of the generation that helped establish the corps’ identity, traditions, and spirit. Years later, that same love for the organization would lead her back into service in ways that became invaluable to both the corps and its alumni.
Michele became actively involved with the Crossmen Alumni Association, where her organizational skill, creativity, and deep knowledge of the corps quickly made a lasting impact. She assisted with the ever-popular Crossmen History Night and, in the early 2000s, became the event’s coordinator. Through her work, History Night continued to grow as a meaningful celebration of the people, stories, and traditions that connect generations of Crossmen.
One of Michele’s most important contributions was the creation of the Crossmen Alumni Association database. That work gave the organization a stronger way to communicate with a vast and ever-growing alumni community. By helping connect alumni across decades, Michele strengthened the foundation for engagement, outreach, and continued support of the corps.
Professionally, Michele has built a career as a Project Management Specialist in Graphic Arts and Web Services for The Vanguard Group. She has generously shared those talents with the Crossmen, donating her time and creative ability to support the organization in countless ways. Her design work has included corps souvenirs, recruiting posters, show announcements, and the current Crossmen yearbook. Through her creativity and professional expertise, Michele has helped present the Crossmen with quality, pride, and polish while saving the corps tens of thousands of dollars over the years.
Michele’s service to the Crossmen cannot be captured by one role. She has marched, cooked, volunteered, designed, organized, planned, created, traveled, coordinated, and led — all in support of the corps she keeps so close to her heart. Her contributions reflect the very best of what it means to be part of the Crossmen family: giving whatever is needed, whenever it is needed, for the good of the organization and its members.
As Co-Coordinator and Treasurer of the Crossmen Alumni Association, Michele has continued to serve with dedication, care, and excellence. She has been a driving force behind alumni efforts and a tremendous asset to the Crossmen Drum Corps.
For her years as a marching member, her leadership in the Crossmen Alumni Association, her work preserving and sharing corps history, her creative and professional contributions, and her lifelong devotion to the Crossmen family, we proudly honor Michele Williams as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame.
