Robbie Robinson
2004
Induction:
Robbie Robinson's life was filled with drum corps from birth. In 1975, at the ripe old age of 14, Robbie began his marching career with the Crossmen percussion section when a bass drummer quit before the first show. Eight years later, he aged out a legend. After a brief stint playing bass drum and tympani, Robbie's talents really began to shine when he joined the snareline in 1977. In 1979, even though the Crossmen finished a disappointing 13th place, the corps rallied around Robbie as he entered and won the DCI I&E snare competition, the first east coast snare drummer to do so in DCI. He would go on to win I&E two more times.
After spending one season with the Concord Blue Devils in 1981, Robbie knew he wanted to come home to age out with the corps he truly loved, the Crossmen. In fact, there were few performers who loved being a Crossmen as much as he did. Always eager to pass on his love for the corps, Robbie's re-creation of his 1979 I&E championship performance at the 2003 Crossmen History Night brought down the house and amazed all of the current members of the corps who witnessed it.
From his days as a member of the legendary Crossmen drumlines to his award winning percussion sections, Robbie Robinson has been a highly respected authority in the world of rudimental drumming and marching percussion for over 25 years.
