Scott Litzenberg
2005
Induction:
Scott Litzenberg’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes his remarkable leadership, work ethic, and unwavering commitment to the corps during one of the most difficult and important chapters in Crossmen history.
From 1987 through 1989, Scott served as director of the Crossmen at a time when the corps was navigating uncertainty, rebuilding its identity, and working to return to DCI Finalist status. The challenges were significant, but Scott’s dedication never wavered. Alongside fellow leaders including Tom Campbell and 2004 Hall of Fame inductee Mike Dennis, Scott helped guide the Crossmen through a period that would prove essential to the corps’ survival and rebirth.
Although Scott had never marched in the Crossmen, his commitment to the organization was absolute. He gave everything he had to the corps and its members, often taking on multiple roles at once simply because the work needed to be done. As director, he did far more than oversee the organization. He wrote music, taught music, coordinated daily schedules, handled logistics, supported the staff and members, and even drove the bus — sometimes all in the same day.
That kind of hands-on leadership reflected the reality of the era and the depth of Scott’s commitment. He was not only guiding the corps from an administrative standpoint; he was helping carry it forward in the most literal and practical ways. His willingness to do whatever was necessary helped keep the corps on the road and moving toward a stronger future.
Scott’s leadership was grounded in a belief that the members deserved a meaningful and fulfilling drum corps experience, regardless of the challenges surrounding the organization. During a time when the Crossmen were striving to regain competitive success, he remained focused on the people at the center of the corps — the members.
For his leadership as corps director, his tireless service from 1987 through 1989, his many contributions as educator, organizer, and administrator, and his steadfast commitment to the Crossmen during a defining period of survival and rebirth, we proudly honor Scott Litzenberg as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame.
