Tim Graham

2018

Induction:

Tim Graham’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes his extraordinary service, creativity, work ethic, and selfless commitment to the corps during a period of important growth and competitive progress.

Tim began his eight-year association with the Crossmen in 1986 as a color guard instructor. From the moment he joined the organization, it became clear that his contribution would extend far beyond instruction. Tim quickly stepped in wherever he was needed, helping with flag and uniform design, sewing, props, tour organization, driving, cooking, laundry, and countless behind-the-scenes tasks that helped keep the corps moving forward.

During those years, the Crossmen did not always have the financial resources to solve problems by simply spending money. They depended on people willing to give their time, skill, creativity, and energy. Tim was exactly that kind of person. He put in countless hours doing work that saved the corps money it did not have, while helping ensure that the members had what they needed to rehearse, perform, and look their best.

After long days working with the corps, Tim would spend hours at his sewing machine repairing uniforms and sewing endless numbers of flags, often late into the night and into the early morning. There was never a job too large, too small, or too inconvenient. Whether teaching at rehearsal, sewing flags, designing uniforms, driving a vehicle, helping in the kitchen, shopping for supplies, or scrubbing white uniform pants at a local laundromat, Tim did it all with dedication and a smile.

One of Tim’s most memorable accomplishments was the giant scrim he sewed for the 1988 production, which covered the entire corps during the performance. It was a bold and memorable visual element that reflected both his creativity and his willingness to take on enormous projects in service of the program.

Tim’s commitment continued during the off-season as well. As if sewing uniforms and flags were not enough, he also worked at the corps’ bingo game in West Chester, Pennsylvania, supporting one of the organization’s key fundraising efforts. His service was constant, practical, and deeply valuable.

Carl Ruocco once said, “Tim Graham is one of those people you pray to have as a part of your organization.” That statement captures the essence of Tim’s Crossmen legacy. He was dependable, talented, generous, and willing to do whatever the corps needed.

Tim had a profound impact on the Crossmen during his years with the organization — years that saw significant growth both organizationally and competitively. His fingerprints were everywhere: in the guard, in the uniforms, in the flags, in the props, in the logistics, in the fundraising, and in the daily life of the corps.

For his years as a color guard instructor, his creativity in design and construction, his tireless behind-the-scenes service, his countless hours of sewing, driving, cooking, cleaning, and fundraising, and his lasting impact on the success and spirit of the Crossmen, we proudly honor Tim Graham as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame.
