Tom Campbell

2005

Induction:

Tom Campbell’s induction into the Crossmen Hall of Fame recognizes his extraordinary dedication to the corps during one of the most uncertain and challenging periods in its history.

In the latter half of the 1980s, the Crossmen were working to survive, rebuild, and regain their place among DCI’s Finalist corps. The challenges were not only competitive — they were organizational, financial, and operational. During that time, Tom Campbell, along with fellow leaders including Scott Litzenberg and 2004 Hall of Fame inductee Mike Dennis, played a critical role in helping guide the corps through a period of great uncertainty and eventual rebirth.

As a longtime member of the Crossmen Board of Directors, Tom was the kind of person the corps could always count on. Whatever needed to be done, Tom was there — giving his time, energy, and effort to help keep the organization moving forward. His service reflected the quiet, tireless commitment that often happens behind the scenes, but without which a drum corps simply cannot survive.

Tom’s work was especially important during difficult financial years. He was instrumental in the corps’ bingo operations, which provided much-needed revenue at a time when every dollar mattered. His efforts helped ensure that the corps had the resources necessary to continue operating, traveling, feeding members, and providing a meaningful drum corps experience.

But Tom’s contribution was never just about keeping the doors open. He believed deeply in the members and in the Crossmen experience. During years when the corps was fighting to regain competitive momentum, Tom remained focused on making sure the young people wearing the uniform still had an experience worthy of the Crossmen name — one filled with pride, purpose, growth, and family.

For his tireless service, his leadership on the Board of Directors, his critical role in sustaining the corps financially, and his unwavering commitment to the members during a defining era in Crossmen history, we proudly honor Tom Campbell as a member of the Crossmen Hall of Fame.
