Why Join Crossmen Alumni Corps?

Why Join Crossmen Alumni Corps?

There aren't many things in life like a summer in a drum corps. We can all think back to the long hot days of work it took to put that years show on the field.

The lack of sleep, the sunburn, the highest quality cuisine. Okay Why did we do this again?

Right, because it was one of the greatest experiences in our lives. Not only did it teach us to overcome tremendous obstacles, or how to be better musicians, or how to learn to work hard for a goal, but it also allowed us to forge bonds and friendships that have lasted for some, almost 50 years or more. We were part of something bigger than ourselves, remember that feeling? Some of us still feel it today. It’s a feeling that we have tried to recapture, but only with limited success. We are not alone in this. I’ve talked to many people who have marched and they all say the same thing:

“I wish we could do it again.”

But it’s not that simple. You can’t just put a corps together and expect greatness to follow. You have to work at it, practice, rehearse and play for the love of the drum corps and your fellow corps members. It takes commitment, discipline and passion.

Now look, we are not talking about going out and trying to win a DCI championship, but we do want to put a product on the field we can all be proud of. So yeah, it's going to take some work.

That's why we need a strong showing of membership in order to achieve the level of excellence that the Crossmen name deserves. So the question remains, are you ready to get back out there? Challenge yourself and sweat a little? Have some fun, and get people on their feet for you again?

Then there is only one thing left to do!!!
